We are seeking trailer mechanics to service our own fleet of tractor trailers. We are competitive in wages, opportunities, and promote growth from within.

We added a brand-new trailer shop with three service bays and own parts department. No more searching and waiting for the parts to arrive. Currently seeking a trailer technician. Servicing normal Dry Vans, a wide variety of specialty trailers that are more challenging to work on. Previous experience as a trailer tech is preferred, but even someone who is good at carpentry, construction, industrial maintenance, welding and more are welcomed to apply. All of these skills and more are needed to be well rounded trailer technician. We offer an impressive shop with heated floors and a well-stocked parts room to keep projects moving through the shop year-round. Duties and Responsibilities:

· Various Work and Repair

· Hydraulic walking floors

· Open-top trailers with roll tarps

· Electric Motors and gearboxes in use with augers

· Experience in PM maintenance and maintaining heavy equipment

· Fabrication and hydraulics

· ASE certification for air brakes

· Repair trucks and trailers

· Use of diagnostic tools for vehicle testing components

· Perform quality inspections prior to service operations


· Prior experience as a mechanic (ideally truck/tractor/trailer)

· Basic equipment knowledge of trailer mechanic shop

· Aptitude, troubleshooting skills and strong mechanical ability

· Able to meet deadlines for business needs

· Fast-paced environment

· Preferred 2 years’ experience working on trailer and heavy equipment

Reports to: V&E Maintenance Manager

Normal Work Hours:  Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm (hours may vary with or without notice)

 General overview of responsibilities


Develop purchase orders for material purchases and issue purchase orders through accounting system meeting reorder points, minimums, and maximums. Time sensitive orders will be placed within 2-3 hours and within 30 minutes if critical machine is down. Inventoried parts will be done on specific days of the week so not to order daily unless needed asap.

  • Maintenance and develops vendor relations and as well as cost control plans
  • Matches of invoices and POs for approval and ready’s the for the AP process.
  • Vendor managed inventory systems and vendor consolidation will be a purchasing factor
  • Source and order non inventoried parts off parts
  • Work with V&E Maint., P&F Maint., Buckskin, and Plant Engineer on product quality and service verses pricing for parts
  • Negotiate, source, and research parts to find the best deal considering price, quality, and service. In most cases the order is Quality, Price, Service.  Consult the requestor for specific questions.
  • Develops a vendor score card and evaluation tool to be shared with key vendors and management on a Quarterly basis
  • Responsible for all parts returns and cores.
  • Input and organize after hours purchases that may or may not have system generated POs.
  • Research parts and equipment as directed by V&E Maint., P&F Maint., and Plant Engineer. Negotiate with requester the desired information, date, and the format to which they need it returned.
  • Aids V&E Maint. in organization of offsite and on the road truck repairs
  • Responsible for phone answering from 7am to 8am and other times are requested
  • Performs Administrative duties for V&E Maint. Manager.

Responsible for organizing and at times personally picking up and delivering parts thru parts runner

Database Maintenance:

Maintain and input work order and PM systems as needed. Service Writer does most of them.

  • Add/change part numbers for all locations
  • Tracks all equipment repairs, asset numbers, and specific information on the equipment in software
  • Pull reports for budget and estimating teams on equipment and parts costing.
  • Turns in MSDS sheets on all new products to HR Generalist when products are received. Responsible for organizing and at times personally picking up and delivering parts
  • Does bi-annual audits of MSDS qualified products in coordination with HR Generalist

Inventory Control:

Will assign Equipment numbers for all departments and work with CFO to setup GL

  • Set reorder points and order inventories of inventoried parts.
  • Stock, label, and maintain parts, shelves, and receiving areas for V&E Maintenance areas.
  • Manages company radio repair, purchases, and issues
  • Inventory cycling counting of all inventory parts as needed

Position Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent

  • 5 years past work experience in inventory and purchasing
  • Able to climb stairs, lift or move material up to 40lbs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent organization and teamwork skills required
  • Significant portions of this assignment involve prolonged sitting with occasional standing, bending or walking and application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will usually work in an office environment.  The noise level is minimal and there may be some exposure to dust.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Ability to take a call and help on breakdown anytime.
